Shit goddamn. This thing is cool. It honestly wasn’t as fast as I was expecting but the soundtrack more than makes up for it. It sounds like its revving to 1,000,000 RPM. Sounds more manic inside the car than outside. Oddly, due to the much talked about 180 degree crank, it shakes at idle like it’s running on 7.5 cylinders. I was impressed to find that it even rides half decent. It’s a really impressive car. Ask me anything about my day with a GT350?

How many bystanders did it mow down?

That's only if it's in the vicinity of an "Autos and Poutine" meet at Tim Horton's.

Why is that odd? flat-plane V8s have the same 2nd-order vibrations that inline-4s do.
and how did you manage to get one for a day?

How easily does it corner?

I mean it makes sense, I’ve just never experienced a new, not-broken car shake like that. It shook WAY more than a 4 cyl car.

What colour was it before it ran down bystanders?

Way good. Better than any other 4 seater coupe I can think of.

“It honestly wasn’t as fast as I was expecting”
This is the way I feel about every Mustang, Camaro, Challenger/Charger that I have driven (excepting a few extreme performance variants). I’m always expecting Corvette levels of thrust, only to be disappointed.
After having one for a day, do you think it’s a car you would be interested in owning?

most 4 cylinder engines on the market of 2.0 liters and greater have counterbalance shafts to cancel it out. If you haven’t, I recommend you drive an older car with a non-counterbalanced 4 banger for a bit. I recommend anything with the GM Iron Duke.
edit: plus, since a flat-plane V8 is essentially two 4-bangers sharing a crankshaft, the vibration energy is going to be higher. since the cylinder banks join in a vee it’s not going to be 2x as bad (I think it’s greater by the square root of 2, or 1.414x higher) plus the vibration occurs in multiple directions. e.g. both vertically and side-to-side.

One of the members at the local track was out in his GT350R this last weekend. Sadly I didn't show up since my car still isn't done ):

Looks gorgeous. I have to say we're in an amazing time when a 526hp car doesn't feel fast enough.

Yeah that’s the issue. It was by no means slow, but its not “OMG I’m going to die” fast either. Would I buy it? yes and no. If I could walk into a dealership, pay list and drive away then yeah. But these are going for huge markups and you’ll have to wait for a place in line. And I wouldn’t bother with all that.

If it’s any consolation, it sounds way faster than it feels.

I agree vehicles that go over list are immediate turn offs for me. Buying a car is a pain in the butt just on principal, adding any more BS into the process kills my interest level quickly.

Honestly I don’t lust after it that hard. I prefer older steel with carburetors and chrome.

I’m curious how the low-end power is on this compared to a regular 5.0 GT. I’d love to see a dyno graph of the two. I’m betting it’s similar, but the GT350 just gets stronger with more revs.
I’d love to have one, but I’m not sure I could justify the price difference... even negating the insane markup that dealers are putting on them... which should be illegal, btw.

O_O
This is the modern car I currently desire most, if only just to have that soundtrack.
